This is a favorite reread of mine. Even though I had read the earlier books in the series, I initially was not anticipating this one. Chason was a deranged lunatic who would pop in and randomly kidnap the heroines of the previous books. Then this book introduced Mara, who was sly and witty, and decided to rock the boat after she returned from the dead. The romance development between the 'less perfect' versions of Mara and Chason was a delightful twist on the usual perfect 'fairytale romance' of Cinderella. What happens when the Prince goes completely off his rocker and forgets things like showering while Cinderella was dead? What if Cinderella got tired of trying to be picture perfect and was actually an incredibly smart linguist? If you like fractured Cinderella variations, and ever wondered what happened after Cinderella and the nameless Prince got married, this is a definitely worthwhile read.Product details

I love this entire series, the stories are compelling. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars on this one is because I didn't feel this story was as strong as the rest in the series. Still quite good though, despite all of the editing mistakes.
My least favorable of this series so far. It's difficult to be sympathetic for Chason and hard to become interested in Mara. Series is moving VERY slowly.
The elemental series is a creative fantastical series which I have read 2x because I love it so much. Queen of the magnet land tells the story of Chason and Mara, and what they do with their second chance at love. Uplifting and romantic.
I have read this novel more times than I care to admit. I can feel the raw emotion between Chason and Mara. I enjoyed all the Elementals novels - but this one had me in the heart. It was love personified. There are several typos - wrong words - in the book though.
This series is amazing I can’t stop reading it, each time I re read the books I find new parts to love and I’m pretty sure Chason is my favorite book boyfriend ever, his love for Mara and his journey during the series, oh man so so romantic! And all the foreshadowing! Sooo much foreshadowing!! I feel like I need to dissect every chapter for clues, because there are a lot of tie ins that make sense as the series goes on, I can’t wait to read more from this series, I say that all the time but I seriously love these book so much and am so happy I found such an awesome author to read, her sister has amazing books too so really I can’t go wrong and always have great books to re read!
I like crazy heroes. As long as they don't hurt the heroine, the crazier the better. And when they're crazy about the heroine too, that's the best. So I've anticipated Chason and Mara's story since book one of the Elemental Phases. Remember that Chason lost his match (soul-mate, other half, what have you) in the Fall. His grief has been all-consuming. For four books, Gannon detailed the heart-wrenching torment of a good man who lost his beloved, lost his way, and is gradually losing his mind. I liked it. A lot. When I saw that book 5 was out, I grabbed my kindle and dove right in. Naturally, Chason and Mara reunite. Yay! He's still cuckoo, but whatevs. He'll improve because he's back with his beloved Mara, his match, his soul-mate, the girl he recognized at first sight as his one and only. The great love story continues!...but...but..hold on. Not so fast...he realizes that he NEVER REALLY KNEW Mara?!?!?!?
Yep. Chason and Mara are reunited, and they realize that they never really knew each other. Their Phase was never really complete. That's why no kiddies. She's been hiding her personality and her power. Chason has no idea that Mara's the strongest Magnet power and the kind of (annoyingly) feisty girl who actually promises to nag her husband. Um, excuse me?
So all of this torment, angst, and despair that Chason experienced....have been about an idea of love? Not a real love for Mara as a person? All of a sudden, his crazy doesn't seem so poignant. If Chason never even knew Mara, what's he getting so worked up about?
Cassandra Gannon invested all this emotional time and effort convincing readers of Chason's great love for Mara (yes, we knew their relationship wasn't perfect), but then concludes that he never really knew the woman. To me, this makes everything that came before (his Reprisal, kidnappings, auditory delusions, etc.) seem like, well, histrionics. Chason is no longer darkly heroic in the mode of Heathcliff. Instead, he seems like a kid who lost a toy. Sure, he realizes the toy is really a woman, but not before throwing a huge tantrum. Chason and Mara's book is a good example of how to undermine your own plot and characterization. I am so, so disappointed.
Three stars for the writing and all that came before.
It took me the longest time to bring myself to read this book. Chason has been such an a** in the last few books that I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy this book. I even read Sullivan and Teja's story first. However, I finally broke down and bought it a while ago, and was pleasantly surprised. Chason is redeemable and this book proves it. Perhaps my favorite part about this book is the acknowledgment that, despite what Chason has built up in his head, Mara was not perfect and their relationship was far from perfect when she “died”. They manage to mend that and come back stronger than ever. I highly recommend this book. I would also suggest reading the series in order to truly understand the overarching plot lines and budding romances and stories.
